Team FAQ

We welcome all skill levels on our Pre-Team. Tryouts are only required for climbers wanting to join Team, and Elite Team is by invite only. Your first tryout is free, and must be scheduled in advance. Reach out to book your first practice!

Due to the limited capacity of our Team, missed practices cannot be made up. We work hard to keep our athlete to coach ratio small so that all athletes get individualized coaching. When you know that you will miss practice, notify us at team@thresholdclimbing.com so coaches can plan accordingly. You and your athlete will have access to the MaxOne app which will allow athletes to complete self-practice at home or at the gym in the event of a missed in-person practice.

As a member of Team Threshold, athletes and their parents get exclusive access to the Threshold Coaching MaxOne App. This app provides valuable resources for our Coaches and athletes to communicate, plan for practices and ensures that athletes can make up practices if needed.

To maintain professionalism, coaches will communicate with parents and athletes outside of practice only through the Max One app.

As a Team Parent we ask that you stay apprised of Team Threshold news and updates. We work hard to make sure parents are in the loop through MaxOne, through email and our private ‘Team Threshold’ Facebook group. If you notice that you aren’t receiving communication via email from our team, let us know! We will be sure to check that the correct information is on file.

For steps on how to download and use the MaxOne app go here: Threshold Coaching App

Athletes should always wear their Team Threshold shirt or tank top to practice. Clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Climbing inherently presents abrasions to the skin of climbers, so wearing long pants that are made of synthetic materials (not cotton) can help prevent scrapes and cuts. Please don’t wear sandals or flip flops to practice, it is recommended that athletes come in tennis or athletic shoes so they can run and warm up before practice.

Climbing shoes, harness and chalk are the most used items at practice. These items are also available to rent at the front desk and included with your practice dues. However, team athletes are encouraged to acquire their own equipment via their team discount in the Threshold pro shop. Also, don’t forget a water bottle, healthy snacks, & a gear bag for equipment. Athletes are always responsible for keeping up with their own equipment!

Your Team dues include gym access to train outside of practice times! A coach will not be with you, so a responsible adult must supervise athletes under the age of 14 when climbing on their own.

In order to make an adjustment to your practice schedule, you will need to fill out a Team Change Form either online or at the front desk, please call or ask the front desk for this form. We charge a $10 fee for schedule adjustments after your initial enrollment. That fee will automatically be charged to your billing card on file when the change is applied.
